About us

The goal of the Freshman and Transitional Initiatives at LSU is to increase the number of graduates from the College of Engineering.

The program is designed to build a community of students, faculty and staff.  It is a formalized support system for students that increases student confidence, provides mentoring to K-20 population and develops teamwork and leadership skills for our students.

The average retention and graduation for students who participate in these programs is 9-10% than students who do not.  Check out our results here for freshmen programs and peer mentors.

This program is supported by the National Science Foundation through  STEP I and Ib grants and industry partners.
